SPMC Position Paper on Recycled Content and Recyclability Mandates

SPMC has released an evidence-based position paper titled “Sustainability of Medical Device Packaging.” The paper explains how and why laws mandating that sterilized medical packaging include recycled content and/or be recyclable pose significant risks to the critical requirements that medical packaging must meet.

The paper also offers a path forward with respect to recyclability by encouraging legislators to recognize advanced recycling technologies. SPMC welcomes all industry leaders, legislators, and stakeholders to download and share the position paper.
